December 25th, 2015 – So here we are after months of planning…the Philippines! There were always last minute expenses leading up to our departure date, but somehow we managed to survive. Thank-fully the night before, Robert was able to get some help at work as we had to wake up and arrive to the airport early enough for an international flight. We had just signed up for BCAA’s latest EVO ride share (latest competitor at time of writing this to Car2Go) and we hadn’t had the chance to even test the app or the card. We used the app early morning to locate a car. In our best graces, we found a car only a couple of blocks away! Robert made his way down to the car with only a couple hours of sleep and managed to keep himself awake long enough to get home, pack the car, and drive to the airport. It’s nice that EVO has parking at the Park’N’Fly as we didn’t have worry about parking or transportation (which was the pitfall last time we took Car2Go). We arrived early than we expected and manged to get some food down at Stanley’s Happy Landing lounge.

Everything was going smoothly, until just after we boarded the airplane. We sat in the airplane almost an additional 45mins as the airplane was delayed loading the luggage. As we would later find out from many Filipino’s, Philippine Airlines goes by the abbreviation P.A.L, which they say stands for Plane Always Late. Couldn’t be any further from the truth in our experiences with the company.

Our Flight took off mid afternoon, and we watched the building in Vancouver fade away in the distance as we reached cruising altitude on our flight to the Philippines!
