After waking up around 10am with a dry mouth because we failed to buy water in town the night before, we headed down to the main lodge for breakfast.
The meals were well prepared and tasted amazing! When we finished eating, one of the staff members recognized us from the Instagram post the night before and we started talking about craft beer. The conversation led to some interesting hiking spots around Pender Island. The sky cleared up after a night of rain, and set a perfect day for adventure!
We took the Sublu BRZ down into South Pender where we started our first hike up Mt. Norman. A strenous 30mins up an intense hill with little to no breaks to rest. Nikyla Noodles was struggling the last couple hundred meters to make it to the top.
Every aching minute was with it! The view was spectacular! You could see all the Southern Gulf Islands, and the American’s San Juan Islands. While we were up there, we met a guy who owns and operates a Treehouse resort called the Raven Lofts. Sound like another trip is in call!
Everyone we’ve spoke with up til this point also mentioned that the Oaks Bluffs are a sight to see and only an 8 minute hike. We again faced the sore calve muscles and trekked up the bluff. Jenina timed the hike, and just over 8 minutes we were starring off the bluffs. Small bench chairs and picnic tables surrounded the area. It definitely was a place that was worth seeing!
Hunger set in quickly. Before we knew it, 2pm came and gone. We made our way over to Pender Island Bakery & CafĂ©. Two turkey and cranberry Panini’s on foccia bread, followed by a date bar and a cappuccino brownie.
After stuffing our faces, we headed towards Brook Point park. We arrived and decided to head to the Gowland point lookout which was a block in the other direction. We walked along the beach and spotted eagles, seals, and a beautiful lighthouse. As we followed the beach along to the east, we ended up crossing back onto Brooks Point. We stayed just close to 6pm hoping to see the sunset. Just our luck, a large rain cloud blanketed the sun leaving our hopes of seeing a stunning sunset crushed. We left with some amazing silhouette and lens flare shots and called it a day.
We drove back to the Woods on Pender. We pulled into the drive, and a little Fawn was grazing in the grass in front of the main lodge. Jenina couldn’t have been more excited.
We got into our cabin and decided to head back to the lodge for dinner and some cocktails. After an excellent dinner, we went back to the cabin, grabbed some more Bomber Stout, and dipped into the hot tub to relax those sure hiking muscles.
Time to turn in and call it a night.
