there’s a new street artist in Vancity. they go by the name Earth Folk or EaFo. i first got introduced with the work of the artist(s) thru the Hot Art Wet City gallery that hosted “antisocial media” last month.
over the weekend, we have been searching for EaFo’s wheat paste up street art utilizing their instagram posts as the only clue to where the artworks would be. it takes being so familiar to the landmarks in the city to be able to spot the location of an artwork. it can be challenging, but it also feels like an adventure in some way as we drive around and explore every street, alley, bridge and railrood in the city. i feel accomplished when i find an artwork or what is left of it; like collecting a prize from a scavenger hunt.
i am looking forward to more of these talented artists to put out their work on the streets as an expression of themselves. as much as it is considered vandalism, street art adds so much life and character to a city.
